Moab Utah in a Subaru Outback Onyx XT
Our father daughter roadtrip consisted of Salt Lake City, Park City, Moab, Cedar City, and St. George Utah. This short blog is about Moab, UT. I've been to Moab a ton of times but this was my daughters first time and we were doing some dispersed camping on some BLM land right before the gate of the Canyonlands National Park. In order to get to this spot we had to pull off the main road and turn left on to Big Falt which was a offroad trail. Doing so we had to air-down our tires so we wouldn't get a pinch flat and just have more traction for the rocks/dirt.
Once we finally got to our spot. The view we had was unreal and we were all by ourselves in this area. We pulled in right as the sun was setting which gave us enough time to get setup and start cooking dinner.
The sun was going down and our bellies we're stuff from some delicious pasta we pre-made at home before the trip so all we had to do was warm it up on the GSI 540 stove. We grabbed our chairs and decided to sit by the edge of the canyon and just enjoy the views and watch a storm roll in the distance over some tall mountains.
As the sun we gone the stars starting popping in the sky and we decided to hop up in the roof top tent and watch episode 1 and 2 of the new Loki series from Marvel on Disney+ and fall asleep. The next morning we woke up to a beautiful sunrise, ate breakfast, and started packing up the car so we can drive down Shafer Canyon Rd which is a famous 1 to 2 car fireroad that makes a tone of switchbacks on the edge of the canyon with some of the most amazing views you'll ever see in this terrain.
after that drive we decided to head into the town of Moab to grab some food. We ended up getting some ice-cream and coffee instead right before we jumped back on the road. Right as we were leaving, a storm came through Moab and started raining with some of the biggest rain drops I've ever seen. We ended up leaving Moab right at the right time.
